Sarah is a magazine editor who lived in almost every single Midwestern state before moving to New York City in 2004. This means that she knows how to get out of a car with doors that are frozen shut (Minnesota), is not intimidated by tarantulas (Oklahoma), knows when Lincoln's birthday is (Illinois), and has acquired three speeding tickets on I-70 (Missouri). Her interests include dogs, flea markets, coffee, and terrible reality television.
Charlie is a producer for digital advertising who spent the first 22 years of his life in South Carolina. This means he has a love-hate relationship with the Gamecocks, is a grits connoisseur, and has spent a lot of his life sweating. He enjoys spending his free time taking photography, building things for the apartment, and eating ice cream.
In 2005, Sarah, then an editorial assistant at Real Simple magazine, was sitting at her desk (read: counter in the middle of the hallway) when Charlie, a newly hired photo intern, came over to search for envelopes in the supply cabinets nearby. She introduced herself and informed him that she often had a candy stash on-hand. Charlie soon became a regular fixture next to Sarah's desk, and a friendship bloomed. After a trip to the Catskills with friends a year later, they started dating.
